1ST MARCH WORLD BOOK DAY 2018

Year 7 and staff dressed as Book characters to celebrate World Book Day with an array of outfits such as Mary Poppins, BFG, Oliver Twist and Boy in the Dress! Teachers chose a book/theme in their departments: The English Department came along as Of Mice and Men, the Maths Department as 101 Dalmatians, the TAs as ‘Holes’ and the Cover Team as The 3 Little Pigs! Pupils have been voting for their favourite outfit. Results to be announced!

Matt Windle, Birmingham’s Poet Laureate entertained Year 7 and 8 pupils at Crestwood School to celebrate World Book Day with a presentation and Boxercise Poetry Workshop. Year 8 Pupil  James Groucutt said “my favourite part of the day was when we learnt the basics of boxing and how to write with beats and then put them together. The event was incredible.” Organiser Vicky Heathcote said “Matt completely won the pupils over with his unique performance and showed them how much fun you can have creating rhymes and raps! They had the added bonus of learning about boxing at the same time. It was the perfect way to celebrate this special day.”

Matt also judged the recent Poetry Competition and was very impressed with the standard of entries and the quantity!
