Message from Headteacher
I am honoured and delighted to be the new Headteacher of Crestwood School and Sixth Form. Having served as Deputy Headteacher under the inspirational and strategic leadership of Mr Tony Bowles, now CEO of Invictus, you can be rest assured that our shared vision and values will continue to shape the future of Crestwood.
I firmly believe that a good state education is a right and not a privilege and this coupled with the shared Invictus vision that each and every one of our students irrespective of background or ability deserves access to the type of opportunities offered by the best the independent sector can offer is unique within our community.
I am extremely proud, but not surprised, of our most recent Ofsted judgement of Good with Outstanding features (February 2018). A good school knows its strengths and weaknesses and it was wonderful for our staff and students to be recognised for all of their hard work and efforts over recent years.
The vision that our community deserves to be served by at least a Good school has been realised but we refuse to rest on our laurels and our intention is to be consistently Outstanding when next inspected.
Progress and attainment will always be paramount but never at the expense of a rich and inclusive education where students are at the centre of everything, are fully supported, valued and encouraged to go way beyond what they ever thought possible.
At Crestwood we fully believe that anything is possible and whether that is within the realms of academia, on the sporting field, within the Arts or serving the wider community your son or daughter will have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
Our culture of hard work, commitment and consistent approaches goes hand in hand with excellent teaching mutual respect and bags of enthusiasm. Our ethos is one of inclusivity and aspiration. Our determination to be the absolute best we can be is infectious. We proudly work in collaboration with parents, carers our community, local/feeder primaries and other stakeholders.
I look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful school and working with you over the coming years.
We continue to embrace IT. All new Year 7 students have access to an iPad to help support their learning further – an innovative project that reaped rewards with the current Year 8, 9 and 10 students, from September all 4 of 5 year groups students will have access to an iPad.
“6th Form applications going from strength to strength”
The 2015-2016 academic year saw the launch of our very own 6th Form in collaboration with Invictus 6th For, the first time we have hosted post 16 study since 1991. I am very passionate about providing an opportunity for our students to continue their studies here at our school. We offer a wide variety of courses, both A-level and BTEC, and can offer unrivalled pastoral care and support to all of our students. Crestwood 6th form students also benefit from the resources and teaching expertise the 5 other Invictus Schools offer. The success of our first two years have led to some wonderful feedback from our Year 12 and Year 13 students, so much so that applications have doubled year on year, we have over 40 applicants for the 2018-2019 academic year meaning that we have had to extend the 6th Form common room this summer! If you would like further information please speak to any member of the teaching team to request a copy of the Invictus 6th Form Prospectus. I look forward to working together with you to see your child thrive at school reaching above and beyond their full potential.
