Enrichment
Sports Clubs and Fixtures
Sport in all forms is incredibly popular and successful at Crestwood and we are extremely fortunate in having our own swimming pool and 4G pitch. Whatever their level of ability students are encouraged to participate both competitively and socially.
As well as traditional sports including hockey, football, cricket and basketball, students are provided with increasing opportunities to add to their experiences with new activities. Numerous clubs complement the core provision and these allow students to take part in an even wider range of activities. They become more proficient and skilled by receiving extra coaching and learn to become umpires, referees and coaches themselves. Students are encouraged to develop their performance to the highest level and many go on to achieve Borough, County and even National status. Year 9 students have the opportunity to gain a BTEC First Diploma in Sport and Year 10 students can begin to work towards the Junior Sports Leader Award. This supports students in developing leadership and coaching skills across a range of sports and activities.
We are proud that as of September 2016 we became a member of the Rugby Football Union – All Schools Programme. This means that the RFU has supported us with £10,000 worth of funding to upgrade our equipment; also offering expert specialised coaching for our students and allow our fantastic PE team to attend RFU Coach Education courses. As the 3-year program draws to a close, we have had school teams represented in local leagues and provided a pathway for our students to local clubs. During the 3 year project our students have been invited to Twickenham to experience world class rugby in person we have also been invited to Canterbury’s HQ (official kit supplier to Rugby Football Union) to design our very own school kit!
All of the lessons and team activities are complimented by our truly outstanding facilities which comprise of:
