Rotary Young Chef 2019-2020 Champion!

Faizan, Isabel and Madison took part in the first heat of Rotary Young Chef 2019-20 at Dormston on Tuesday.

All three students were awesome, working under strict guidelines to produce a two course meal within 90 minutes. A professional Chef and senior members of The Rotary formed the judging panel who I have to say had a very difficult job because the dishes produced across both KS3 and KS4 were restaurant standard.

It was a very close call between Faizan and Madison according to the panel but Faizan was the one chosen to go forward to the next heat (District Final) to be held in February at Stafford. Then onto Regional Finals culminating in the National Final held in London.

All three received a certificate and a Nadia Hussain Cookbook.

Well done guys!

Meet Our Art Ambassadors

Congratulations to our new Art Ambassadors!

Our new Art Ambassadors have been selected from year 7,8 and 9, because they demonstrate a passion for Art and Design in and out of lessons; support other students’ learning and have a very good skills base.  Students had to apply for the role and ensure the application criteria was met and signed by the Head of Art and Design before they were selected.

Our Art Ambassadors will support the staff and students within the Art and Design Department in a number of roles, to ensure the importance of the subject is clearly seen and maintained throughout The Crestwood School.

The staff in Art and Design are looking forward to working with these brilliant and enthusiastic students.

12 Days of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas…

Crestwood School were invited to create 3 pieces of artwork for the windows at Himley Hall,  based on three of the 12 days of Christmas.

Year 9 students Eleanor Parsons, Alicia Wentworth and Year 7 student Matthew Wilkes volunteered to enter their ideas.

The work will be transferred to a window display over the Christmas period, with a private viewing held in early December.

We want to congratulate each student for their contribution and look forward to seeing the final outcome.

Scuba Diving Sensation

Year 11 prefect and model student Scarlett Morris has been making waves (excuse the pun!) at a local scuba diving club.

Invictus Director of Sport and Scarlett’s PE Teacher, Miss Hatton is keen to recognise Scarlett’s skill and dedication to her passion:

“Scarlett Morris 11AJ is a keen swimmer but also a fantastic scuba diver. I have known Scarlett for many years and she is a lovely student who is always willing to please and go the extra mile!”

“Scarlett trains twice weekly for her sport, with her local club.  She is a great ambassador but also supports her peers and other club members!”

“We at Crestwood are extremely proud of Scarlett keep up the good work!”

Scarlett also added:

“I first got involved with my diving club when I was looking for a hobby, I loved swimming since I was young and wanted to see what else I could do, I started when I was snorkelling when I was 10 knew straight away that I wanted to learn to dive once I was 12. One of the main reasons I love diving is that I get to experience things that not many people do, I love being able to go on trips and swim inside wrecks of boats and aeroplanes as well as seeing all of the underwater life and being part of my diving club allows me to do this”

“Dudley Dolphin has help me do things that I never thought I could, and being part a community full of interesting and friendly people has allowed me to learn and experience amazing things.”

“Diving is not just hobby to me it is a way of life and I am so happy I was able to discover it with help from everyone in my diving club. As they have all helped to enjoy every aspect of diving and allowing me to build my confidence not only with diving but also everyday life and in school”

If you are interested in diving you can come and have a try dive. Please contact Miss Hatton or Scarlett for more information or visit their website. We have two try dives coming up, if you are interested please see Miss Hatton or your PE teacher.
