Former Head Boy to Attend Oxford University

We have great news! Former head boy, Jack Parsons, has received a conditional offer to study at Oxford University. Jack will be studying a degree in mechanical engineering at the most prestigious university in the country, ranked No.1 in the world by Times Higher Education.

This is an outrageously incredible achievement by Jack and something that we at Crestwood are extremely proud of. Jack left us in 2018 with a brilliant set of GCSE results, ranking in the top 3 top achievers in his year group.

Jack achieved six Grade 9s and four Grade 8s (Grade 8 is an A Star equivalent and a Grade 9 is only achieved by the top 2% of students in the country!), we were always aware we had a special young man on our hands.

Jack visited Oxford University through Crestwood’s ‘More Able’ program whilst in year 10, and it seems he took a liking to the place! Jack also successfully applied for an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship whilst at Crestwood thanks to his talent and hardwork.

Assistant headteacher and Jack’s former D & T teacher, Mr Smith added: “I am absolutely over the moon that Jack has achieved so much, however, I cannot say that I am surprised. I saw first hand the amount of hours, commitment and dedication Jack put in to all of his studies here at Crestwood. This proves that the right attitude coupled with hard work means that anything is possible. We hope that Jack is catalyst for all of our students to go on to dream big and aim for the best university in the world”
