School Life

Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education plays a vital role in shaping well-rounded, confident, and responsible individuals. More than just a subject on the timetable, PSHE is central to the school's commitment to nurturing the whole child — academically, socially, and emotionally.

PSHE at Crestwood empowers students with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to lead safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives. Through carefully planned lessons and discussions, students explore key topics such as mental health, healthy relationships, digital safety, and financial literacy. These topics are not only relevant, but essential for preparing young people for the realities of modern life.

By encouraging self-reflection and critical thinking, PSHE contributes directly to students' personal development. It helps them build resilience, understand their emotions, and develop empathy — qualities that support positive relationships and strong moral character.

Crestwood recognises that academic success goes hand in hand with personal growth. PSHE supports this by creating a safe space for students to express themselves, explore their identities, and ask important questions about the world around them.

Through active engagement in PSHE, students grow in confidence and self-esteem. They learn to make informed decisions, take responsibility for their actions, and develop a sense of social responsibility. These are key skills not only for school life, but for future employment and adulthood.

Well-being is a cornerstone of Crestwood’s ethos, and PSHE is a critical tool in promoting both mental and physical health. The programme includes lessons on managing stress, building positive habits, and seeking help when needed. In doing so, it breaks down stigma around mental health and encourages students to prioritise their well-being.

By addressing issues such as bullying, peer pressure, and unhealthy coping mechanisms, PSHE helps create a school environment where students feel valued, understood, and supported.
