Hiking in the Highlands

Duke of Edinburgh

Crestwood School is proud to hold the status of a Duke of Edinburgh Licensed Organisation. We have gained this status with over 5 years of success on the programme whilst operating under the local authority license. Over the past 5 years an average 30 students per year have received their Bronze Award and 15 their Silver Award. This year we hope to put forward our Gold Award candidates! Mr Rollason and Miss Hatton lead the awards, both have a passion and enthusiasm for hard work and adventure, making them  perfect role models for our students.

There are three Award levels:

If you are in Year 9 but are only 13 years old, you may be able to start a Bronze DofE programme if most of your friends are already 14 – check with your DofE Leader. (Miss Hatton or Mr Rollason)

Activities for each DofE section take a minimum of one hour a week over a set period of time, so they can be fitted in around academic study, hobbies and social lives. Development and regular progress must be shown and all activities must be completed by the participant’s 25th birthday.
