Duke of Edinburgh

Crestwood School is proud to hold the status of a Duke of Edinburgh Licensed Organisation. We have gained this status with over 10 years of success on the programme whilst operating under the local authority license. Over the past 5 years an average 30 students per year have received their Bronze Award and 15 their Silver Award. Students are able to complete Bronze award from year 9 and Silver award from year 10. Students in sixth from are offered the opportunity to take part in their Gold award.  Miss Blakeway leads the awards with support from other staff. All staff involved have a passion and enthusiasm for the outdoors, hard work and adventure, making them perfect role models for our students.

There are three Award levels:

Activities for each DofE section take a minimum of one hour a week over a set period of time depending on the level of award. They can easily be fitted in around academic study, hobbies and social lives. Many of our students are already completing activities that could be used for the award. Development and regular progress must be shown and all activities must be completed by the participant’s 25th birthday.
