Crestwood Achieves Artsmark GOLD STATUS!

Congratulations Crestwood on achieving the GOLD STATUS for Artsmark. Crestwood has received this prestigious award from Arts Council England for providing outstanding education and opportunities in Arts and Culture. We have been working towards this award for two years across the entire school-well done everyone! Let’s CELEBRATE!

The Arts Council said:

The Crestwood School is to be commended for its ongoing commitment to developing high quality arts and cultural activities for students. It was good to read how pupils had been involved in developing two musical productions initiated by the Musical Theatre Group. Students have also had the opportunity to work alongside artists at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and LIPA, as well as being inspired by visiting professional including DancexChange and Frantic Assembly. It is good to read about your increased range of courses, including BTEC Music and Music Technology A level, although it would have been good to know how many students were enrolling on these courses, although it is positive that GCSE music cohort numbers are increasing. Students also have the opportunity to gain formal qualifications, as you have now gained status as a LAMDA examination centre. During the initial covid19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown you were quick to respond to a challenging situation and have taken creative approaches to ensuring the Arts continue to be a high priority. The school radio station is one area that will continue to develop post Covid and enhance opportunities for students. Partnerships have also been strengthened, including those with your local Music Hub. You have effectively increased the profile of the Arts across the whole school community with departments working together and supporting other schools. You have identified appropriate goals for the future in your SOI and you may wish to consider developing case studies where you identify outstanding practice and shared on a regional or national platform to secure your position as a leading advocate for arts and culture.

Congratulations on your Artsmark Gold Award!
